Grupo Beta San Miguel acquires two mode mills: Central El Potrero and Central San Miguelito

Beta San Miguel group acquired the last two sugar mills offered for sale by the Federal Government, by a sum of $3 398 000 000 pesos, reasserting itself as the main private sugar group nationwide. 

Central El Potrero Sugar Mill, located in the municipality of Atoyac, and Central San Miguelito Sugar Mill, located in the city of Cordoba, both in the state of Veracruz, will allow them to increase the sugar production estimated in 249 thousand tons, getting to a total of 1.5 million tons, and causing a rise in the company’s involvement on the total sweetener production of our country, from 19.50% to 22.2%, for the 2016/2017 harvest season.

With this recent acquisition, Beta San Miguel consolidates itself as the largest sugar group in the country, and gives continuity to its project to become one of the best sugar groups worldwide.

Grupo Beta San Miguel acquires three new mills: Casasano, Zapata and La Providencia

During the 2015/16 harvest Beta San Miguel acquired three sugar mills from the Federal Government, two located in the Morelos state: Corporativo Azucarero Emiliano Zapata in the municipality of Zacatepec and Central Casasano in Cuautla and a third, Central La Providencia, located in the municipality of Cuichapa, Veracruz.

The acquisition of these three mills makes BSM, the largest sugar group with greatest number of mills in the country, increasing its production by 325,000 tons. Along with the production of the existing 6 mills belonging to the Group this increased BSM’s share of 2015/16 sugar production from 12.8% to 18.2%.

BSM continues its project to become not only the best sugar group in the country, but one of the best in the world.

Grupo Bimbo recognizes Beta San Miguel as the best external supplier of the year

During its annual supplier meeting, which took place on November 8 at the Barcel plant in Toluca, Grupo Bimbo recognized Beta San Miguel as the "Best External Supplier" to Barcel for our performance as sugar supplier to all their plants. The criteria that made BSM eligible for this important distinction were:

• Guaranteeing supply of this important ingredient for their products.
• The timeliness of deliveries.
• Customer service
• Quality and safety.
• Innovation in sugar handling and delivery (super sacks and bulk)
• BSM’s sustainability programs including co-generation, reduction of water and energy consumption, reduction of emissions and use of biological pest control.
• Social responsibility in our communities.

We are very proud and grateful to our customer and partner BIMBO for this recognition and for allowing us to add our grain of sugar to all the products produced by GRUPO BIMBO. In addition this award encourages us to continue improving our quality, food safety and security; our sustainability; our operating costs and results; so that clients like Grupo Bimbo continue to prefer BSM. We still have long way to go!
